PRACTICE PROFILE

Yeppoon Family Practice operates three busy, modern medical practices:

  • Yeppoon Family Practice
  • The Family Practice (Emu Park)
  • Complete Skin Solutions

Our general practices are accredited and are supported by teams of practice nurses, experienced reception / administration staff and a practice manager. All practices privately bill and are fully computerised, with paperless patient files (Best Practice).

Our fully equipped procedure rooms are provisioned with defibrillators, ECG,  diathermy and all essential equipment necessary for day to day emergencies and procedures.

Yeppoon Family Practice is a 7 day practice, offering extended opening hours during the week and emergency appointments on a weekend. Our Emu Park and Zilzie practices operate Monday to Friday, and weekend appointments are referred to our Yeppoon practice.

Our Practices value a multi-disciplinary approach to patient care. The practice invests in:

  • Chronic Disease Nurses to support the development of Management Plans and coordinated care arrangements.
  • Asthma and COPD educators.
  • Skin nurses to support the management skin cancer medicine and cosmetic medicine treatments.

We have access to two Rockhampton based private hospitals – Mater Hospital and Hillcrest Hospital. Yeppoon is serviced by the public Capricorn Coast Hospital and Health Service.

There is an excellent medical specialist support in Rockhampton. The Rockhampton Hospital (approx 40 km away) is a major regional hospital which provides the community with specialist medical care and full-time clinicians in areas including: Cardiology, Urology, Paediatrics, Nephrology, Obstetrics, Gynaecology, Anaesthetics, Psychiatry, Radiology and Orthopaedic surgery

Three of our practices are accredited teaching practices and we have an extensive history of providing quality training for registrars, prevocational doctors, medical and nursing students spanning 20 years. With 10 accredited General Practice (level 1) trainers with RACGP and six accredited trainers with ACCRM, our practice has the capacity to provide Registrars an exceptional teaching environment and introduction to rural general practice.

Currently we have 18 doctors on staff and the Practice Principals are Dr Julie Burke, Dr Scott Cooling, Dr Michael Donohue, Dr Julian Gregory, Dr Kaverjit Gujral, Dr Nicholas Wong and Dr Geraldine Young.
