Dr Julie Burke

General Practitioner, Practice Partner

Dr Julie Burke’s office has been an essential pre-travel stop for Central Queensland travellers for several decades. 

Dr Burke graduated from the University of Queensland in 1985, before working in metropolitan hospitals for 4 years. After working and travelling through the United Kingdom, Dr Burke joined the Yeppoon Family Practice as a GP in 1994, where she’s now a Practice Partner. 

It was Dr Burke’s interest in travel medicine that led to the Yeppoon Family Practice to become a founding member of the Travel Medical Alliance in 2005. Her expertise allows patients to access the best up-to-date advice and vaccines for their travels, including making the YFP the only Yellow Fever Vaccination Centre on the coast. Dr Burke says she particularly loves travel medicine as she gets to hear the adventures her patients go on. 

Not only is Dr Burke an expert in travel medicine, she also specialises in women’s health and runs a Women’s Health Clinic. Her knowledge is wealth shared as she mentors other doctors at the practice, and ensures all doctors at the practice have access to the latest travel health information.

Dr Scott Cooling

General Practitioner, Practice Partner

Dr Scott Cooling has been a doctor for 3 decades, graduating from the University from Queensland in 1993. 

Prior to becoming a GP, he spent 15 years as the Medical Superintendent of the Yeppoon Hospital and its replacement, the Capricorn Coast Hospital and Health Service. 

In 2012 Dr Cooling obtained his Fellowship with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners, and the following year became a Partner at the Yeppoon Family Practice. 

He has a particular interest in sports medicine and skin cancer treatment.

Dr Michael Donohue

General Practitioner, Practice Partner

Dr Michael Donohue is one of Yeppoon’s longest standing general practitioners, graduating from the University of Queensland in 1978, and joining the Yeppoon Family Practice as a Practice Partner in 1986. Dr Donohue has a particular focus on ageing patients, geriatrics, men’s health and vasectomies, as well as cardiac and chronic respiratory problems. He enjoys building long term relationships with his patients as they return to him over the years. 

With over 4 decades worth of experience, Dr Donohue is not only a highly in-demand GP, but also a mentor to new doctors who pass through the doors at Yeppoon Family Practice.

He has a Post-Graduate Diploma from the Royal Australian College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, and is a Fellow of the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine. He has also spent time as a Lecturer for the University of Queensland Rural Clinic school and as a Queensland Government Medical Officer.

Dr Kaverjit Gujral

General Practitioner, Practice Partner

Dr Kaverjit Gujral is a leading practitioner, bringing an extra facet to his conventional general practice through integrative wellness medicine tools. 

It was Dr Gujral’s own wellness journey that inspired him to combine integrative medicine with the best of conventional medicine. He specialises in autism spectrum disorders, mental health, pyrrole disorder (a genetic blood disorder), chronic fatigue syndrome, gut health, thyroid disorders, bio-identical hormones, integrative nutrient therapy, heavy metal toxicity, chronic pain management, and perineural injection treatment. 

Along with being a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practice, he’s also a member of the Australian Integrative Medicine Association, the Australian College of Nutritional and Environmental Medicine, the Australian College of Medical Nutrition, and the American Academy of Anti-Ageing. Dr Gujral is also a Bio Balance Practitioner, A MINDD forum practitioner, a FITGENES Practitioner and a Genostics Practitioner.

Dr Nicholas Wong

General Practitioner, Practice Partner

Dr Nick Wong is a University of London graduate (Charing Cross and Westminster Medical School 1988).  After studying and training as a General Practitioner in the UK, he travelled to Queensland, Australia and was employed with Queensland Health.  He served 4 years as a solo Medical Superintendent at Yeppoon Hospital before becoming a Practice Partner at the Yeppoon Family Practice in 1996.

Dr Wong is a father of four very musical and medical children.  He enjoys farming and music.  He has a passion to bring on the next generation of medical practitioners and is dedicated to his work on the Capricorn coast.

Dr Wong works every second Friday at our practice at Emu Park.

Dr Julian Gregory

General Practitioner

Dr Julian Gregory is one of Yeppoon Family Practice’s most senior Partners, graduating in 1977 from the University of Queensland. He obtained his Fellowship from the Royal Australian College of General Practice in 1984. 

A Capricorn Coast stalwart, Dr Gregory practised medicine for 14 years in Yeppoon before becoming a practice partner in 1996. 

Dr Gregory’s particular areas of interest are in men’s health, travel medicine, skin cancer surgery, aged persons health care, sports medicine and acupuncture. 

Dr Gregory says over his years of working in healthcare, he’s seen the capacity of medicine and its ability to improve lives increase dramatically.

As well as working as a General Practitioner, he enjoys teaching and mentoring GP registrars and medical students.

Dr Greory works Monday Tuesday and Thursdays.  Friday morning appointments are reserved for skin cancer management.

Dr Neel Chitre

General Practitioner

Dr Neel Chitre joined the practice in 2017 and works largely in Yeppoon Family Practice. Dr Neel has recently obtained his RACGP Fellowship which is General Practice specialist training.

Dr Neel enjoys all aspects of general practice, and has a special interest in Skin.

Having lived in Central Queensland for a number of years, Dr Neel is committed to providing quality care for the local community.

Dr Tharindie Padmaperuma

General Practitioner

Dr Tharindie Padmaperuma grew up in Sri Lanka and studied medicine in India- and her love for tropical environments meant the Capricorn Coast quickly felt like home. 

Dr Padmaperuma gained her MBBS at Manipal University in India, and has worked in several countries with rotations in Internal Medicine, Surgery, Paediatrics, Obstetrics, Gynaecology and Psychiatry. She first moved to Australia in 2018, where she worked at Campbelltown Hospital in NSW for two and a half years. 

After working at Campbelltown, Dr Padmaperuma returned to Sri Lanka where she worked for 6 months before relocating to Central Queensland in September 2021. 

Dr Padmaperuma is currently undertaking her Fellowship, which is advanced training to specialise as a GP and welcomes all new patients. 

Throughout her specialist training, Dr Padmaperuma says the support from the Yeppoon Family Practice Doctors and staff has been exceptional as the senior practice doctors share their expertise readily.

She speaks both English and Sinhalese and has an interest in all aspects of general practice
